Unnao Rape Case: Accused BJP MLA's brother held over the death of victim's father; Rahul Gandhi slams CM Yogi, says 'Beti bachao khud maare jao'
The horrifying act of BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar's brother Atul Sengar has triggered a huge outrage for allegedly beating the father of rape victim. The woman has accused the BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh of raping her after which, the accused MLA's brother beat-up the father of the woman that led his death in police custody on Monday.
The arrest warrant has been issued against Kuldeep's brother Atul Sengar by the Lucknow's DGP after which Crime Branch held him. Three more persons have also been arrested in the case.
Reacting to the death of her father the victim stressed the fact Kuldeep Singh is yet to be arrested. "Kuldeep Singh (Sengar) isn't being arrested. I don't know if his brother is arrested. I demand that they are hanged till death. They've made my life miserable. I want justice. They killed my father," she told news agency ANI. Also, the victim has named both the Sengar brothers as her rapists.
Meanwhile, the Congress supremo, Rahul Gandhi took dig on BJP-led Yogi Adityanath government over the alleged rape of a woman by a party MLA in Uttar Pradesh and death of her father in police custody in Unnao.
Rahul took Twitter to slam CM Yogi by stating PM Modi’s Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao scheme, “Beti Bachao-khud maare jao (save daughter and get yourself killed)”.
On Sunday, the woman had tried to immolate herself near Adityanath's Lucknow residence, but police foiled the immolation bid. She had alleged that the Unnao police didn't register a case against Kuldeep Singh Sengar despite her complaint and that no action was taken, police said.
However, Sengar rejected the charge as a conspiracy by his opponents and said the complainant "belong to a low-status family (minister ke log hain)...This is a conspiracy by my opponents," he told reporters.
"I have no problem with any probe. Let a probe be conducted, and the guilty be given the stringent punishment. If I am found guilty in the probe, I am ready to face punishment," Sengar had said.
