Train to Kashmir will start very soon: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Chennai: Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the long-awaited train service connecting Jammu and Kashmir will soon begin, marking a milestone in India's railway network.

Engineering excellence overcoming challenges
The project involved immense geographical and climatic challenges. Out of the 111-kilometre route, 97 kilometres are tunnels, and six kilometres consist of bridges, showcasing engineering brilliance and determination.

Inspection highlights progress
While inspecting new coaches of the Amrit Bharat train at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, the minister confirmed that work on the railway line is complete, and the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) has conducted an inspection.

Specialised Vande Bharat train
A new Vande Bharat train has been specifically designed to operate in extreme weather conditions of minus 10 to minus 20 degrees Celsius. Adjustments to electrical lines and other technical aspects ensure it is fit for the region.

Katra-Banihal section achievements
The Katra-Banihal section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramula Rail Link (USBRL) underwent a successful speed trial. Featuring the world’s highest railway bridge, the Chenab Bridge, and advanced safety measures, this section is critical in connecting Jammu with Kashmir.
