Tom Vadakkan, close aide of Sonia Gandhi, joins BJP says, 'No place for self-respecting people in Congress'

Ahead of the Lok Sabha election, a major turnaround for the ruling BJP happened as the Congress leader Tom Vadakkan, who aided UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to build a media team, has joined the BJP in Delhi today.

“If a political party takes such a position that is against the country, then I'm left with no option but to leave the party,” said Vadakkan, adding that he believed in the development narrative of PM Narendra Modi.

Tom, who was greeted by the BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi, gave his reason for leaving Congress and said, “I left Congress party because when Pakistani terrorists attacked our land, my party's reaction to it was sad, it hurt me deeply. If a political party takes such a position that is against the country then I'm left with no option but to leave the party.”

Vadakkan, who is keen on contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Kerala’s Thrissur, Ernakulam or Idukki constituency, as reported in media, has been a close aide of Sonia Gandhi and had built up the Congress’ media campaigning but he was sidelined after the BJP’s mammoth social media engineering took the internet by its hand.
