Tej Pratap Yadav to support own candidate contesting against RJD, sparks controversy

As the family feud of Lalu Prasad Yadav surfaces, elder son and former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav has displayed the signs of dissent towards the Rashtriya Janta Dal as he is set to support an independent candidate from Jehanabad, against RJD’s Surendra Yadav.

Tej Pratap Yadav had earlier sought a Lok Sabha ticket for his supporter Chandra Prakash Yadav from the Jehanabad constituency and one from Sheohar for Angesh Singh, but the RJD think tank has denied tickets for both the supporter and now, Chandra Prakash will be contesting as an independent.

It is speculated that due to the rebellion from Tej Pratap and other internal issues, the RJD has not announced the candidate from the Seohar constituency.

Briefing the media on Saturday, Tej Pratap Yadav met the party workers and said, “The party’s Jehanabad candidate Surendra Yadav has lost thrice. It simply means people do not like him. I am in favour of a young candidate, a fresh face, and Chandra Prakash can be a good choice. Now that the party has announced its candidate from Jehanabad, I am asking Chandra Prakash to contest as Independent.”

Chandra Prakash later on added that “We cannot accept an outsider, Surendra Yadav (as candidate). Now that we have got a nod from my leader Tej Pratap Yadav, I will contest as an Independent”. Surendra Yadav belongs to Gaya district of Bihar.

Tej Pratap Yadav is now trying to field Angesh Singh from Sheohar constituency and the conflict in the Yadav faily has now taken the centre stage. Tejashwi Yadav has been at the front of the RJD, and leading the party in the absence of father Lalu Prasad Yadav.
