Former External Affairs Minister and BJP stalwart Sushma Swaraj's sudden demise has left everyone in shocked. Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences over the death of Sushma Swaraj and said, ‘A glorious chapter in Indian politics comes to an end.’

PM Modi has posted a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle.

 

The veteran politician died on Monday night at the age of 67. She took her last breathe at the AIIMS in New Delhi late on August 6.

As per the reports of AIIMS, she had a cardiac arrest and was also administered CPR but didn’t respond.

Sushma Swaraj was a well-liked personality who was known for her warm personality and charming smile. Besides, she was quite active on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, where she used to listen to common man problems and also tried her better in providing all sorts of help.

On Monday evening, she wrote her last tweet for PM Modi over the historic decision on scrapping of Article 370.

She took to Twitter at around 7:23 pm and wrote, “@narendramodi ji - Thank you Prime Minister. Thank you very much. I was waiting to see this day in my lifetime.”


During 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Sushma Swaraj didn't contest in the elections as she had citied her health reasons and chose to sit out of the government this year on account of her health.

After the swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi, Swaraj also wrote an emotional message on her official Twitter handle and thanked PM Modi.

She wrote, "Prime Minister, you gave me an opportunity to serve our countrymen and overseas Indians as the Foreign Minister for five years and personally, also, gave me respect throughout my tenure. I am very grateful to you. I pray that our government becomes very successful."

Sushma Swaraj's last rites schedule:

The mortal remains of Sushma Swaraj will be kept at her residence for people to pay her last respects. At around noon on August 7, her mortal remains will be brought to BJP Headquarters. While at 3 pm Swaraj will be taken to Lodhi road crematorium, where her last rites will be performed with full state honors, JP Nadda said reporters.

 

After the death of Sushma Swaraj, a number of senior BJP leaders, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and Harsh Vardhan rushed to AIIMS, where she took her last breath.

Meanwhile, BJP and oppositions' ministers have poured condolences over the demise of former Delhi CM Swaraj.
