Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh afraid that Chidambaram might reveal secret: Sudhir Mungantiwar
BJP leader and Maharashtra Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar on Monday said that Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh went to meet former finance minister P Chidambaram in Tihar jail as they are "fearful that Chidambaram might reveal any secret".
"It must have been a compulsion, or they may be having the fear that P Chidambaram might reveal any secret," said Mungantiwar while talking to ANI.
On Monday morning, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh and Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram went to Tihar jail in the national capital to meet Chidambaram on Monday.
He also said that there would be an alliance between BJP and Shiv Sena for the assembly elections and the public would not express confidence in Congress-NCP.
"The alliance will be there for sure and those who have looted Maharashtra will not get the votes," he added.
Chidambaram was arrested by the CBI on August 21 and is at present in judicial custody in Tihar Jail.
He is facing a probe by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for alleged irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance given to INX Media to the tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007 when he was the Union finance minister.
A Delhi court on Thursday extended Chidambaram's judicial custody till October 3 in the corruption case filed by the CBI.
