In the midst of election season, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set out to rally in his constituency Varanasi and will be filing the nomination on April 26. A tsunami of BJP supporters and public was seen to greet PM amongst the electioneering.
While informing the country about his visit, PM Narendra Modi tweeted, “After bumper rallies in Darbhanga and Banda, I am heading to beloved Kashi. There are a series of programmes lined up, which would give me another excellent opportunity to interact with my sisters and brothers of Kashi. Har Har Mahadev”
Top leaders of the BJP and the allies of the NDA will be accompanying the cavalcade of PM Narendra Modi and some of them includes, “Amit Shah, Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Sushma Swaraj, Piyush Goyal, NDA leaders including Shiromani Akali Dal Chief Parkash Singh Badal, Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Lok Jan Shakti Party Chief Ram Vilas Paswan.”
As per the schedule of the BJP, PM is set to visit Banaras Hindu University and would be paying tribute to BHU founder Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, the event has been referred to as a grand ceremony for the BJP ahead of the next phase of polling. The nomination filing for PM Modi is scheduled for April 26.
Voting in Varanasi is scheduled to take place on May 19 and the result is scheduled to be declared on May 23. Congress has fielded Ajay Rai as its candidate from thes eat, who had unsuccessfully contested in 2014 polls.
