Shocker: Birthday celebration turns disaster; 3 AIIMS doctors killed, 4 injured after SUV hits mini-truck on Yamuna Expressway
A horrifying incident took place when an SUV car lost it's controlled and hits Mini-truck, killing 3 AIIMS doctors and four critically injured. The accident took place on early Sunday morning on Yamuna Expressway near Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, the doctors were traveling in an Innova car, which crashed with a container killing three of them instantly near Milestone 88 of Surir Kotwali police station area in Mathura.
Nearly six doctors were traveling in a Toyota Innova SUV out of which Dr Hembala, Dr Yashpreet and Dr Harshad lost their lives and Dr. Kadriene, Dr. Mahesh, Dr. Abhinav were critically injured and have been admitted to AIIMS, New Delhi. The driver was also injured and admitted to AIIMS.
The Police claimed that the Innova tried to overtake the Eicher mini-truck around 2:30 am when it lost control and hit the larger vehicle from behind. The mini-truck had a Uttar Pradesh registration number and did not stop after the accident. They are looking for the driver now, said Police.
According to a report in Financial Express, the six doctors were traveling to celebrate Dr Harshad’s birthday before the tragedy struck. However, the Expressway has known for the several accidents happened in the past. Yamuna Expressway, the eight-lane 206 km toll road connecting Greater Noida and Agra reported 1,193 fatalities in 2016.
According to the report, over 73 per cent of the accidents were attributed to speeding while under the influence of alcohol. An RTI query has also revealed that 625 people have their lost lives in 4505 accidents.
Yamuna Expressway was inaugurated in August 2012.
