Shiv Sena has support of 170 MLAs: Sanjay Raut
Just a few days after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) threatened President's rule in Maharashtra due to ongoing rift with its ally Shiv Sena, the latter has claimed on Sunday that it has more than enough support to form government in the state Assembly.
While interacting to the media, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that the party has the support of more than 170 MLAs in Maharashtra and by going rough it could reach 175. Shiv Sena has been demanding 50-50 percent share of ministerial berths in Maharashtra cabinet with also sharing CM's post for 2.5 years each being the bone of contention.
However, on the other hand, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis is not in the mood to bow down to the Shiv Sena's demands and BJP is also clear that Devendra Fadnavis will be CM for whole five years. With this ongoing rift, BJP has even threatened of President rule in the state if Shiv Sena doesn't go with the agreement by 8 November.
Meanwhile, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has made it clear that they respect the people's mandate and is happy to sit in the opposition. However, its ally Congress party is all open to discuss a potential alliance with Shiv Sena.
