Shehla Rashid denies of blocking the route of bleeding child by JNU protesters as alleged by a FB post

As a Facebook post written by Nikita Sara alleged that Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students blocked the route of a bleeding  child, one of JNU student leaders Shehla Rashid denied of any such incident happened during their protests. Rashid said she and any  student has no knowledge of such incident that blocked the route of bleeding child.

As the Fb post went viral on social media, Rashid took to twitter to share her version of the story.

“1. Dear friends, I have no knowledge of the incident Nikita Sara is referring to. The Police had already cordoned off Nelson Mandela Marg at 7 pm when the march started. I was on NDTV and Mirror Now from 7:30 pm onwards, so I have no knowledge of this, nor do any of the students,” Rashid tweeted.

She added “2. I asked around; No student knows about this. If there was indeed a bleeding child, none of the students I spoke to seem to have any knowledge of this. It just means that they changed route in time. I hope the child is safe and would like to visit her in the hospital tomorrow.”

She also clarified that where they were protesting were cordoned off by the police. She said “We always allow ambulances and general public who are in need. See this video for example:https://www.facebook.com/ShehlaRashidOfficial/videos/233933847172013/ … We proactively make way for traffic, especially for medical emergencies, but today (Monday), the road was already cordoned off by police at 7 pm, so no traffic”.

Earlier on Facebook, Nikita Sara wrote “I have never been so angry in my life. In the traffic jam, I saw a child, bleeding profusely in his mother arms, probably unconscious, mother screaming for help, help to get her car out of the jam, people looking helplessly while others driving, reversing recklessly, looking almost possessed to find a way out. I parked my car right in the middle of the road, walked down to the epicentre of the cause, to find students of JNU dancing to the beat of the drums and singing 'aazadi'. I tried to reason with them, tell them about the grave situation, telling them that this is the only road to 3 large hospitals and they said, `that's not our problem and we are protesting against sexual harassment. On the other side, I saw a young lady with full make up giving interviews to the likes of Aaj Tak and others, I tried to stop the interview, tell her about the problems people were facing. Her name they said was #ShehlaRashid. All she could do was ask me 10 times if I had been to college. Yes, Shehla, I went to a very good one. I learnt how to fight battles with dignity and value lives while I did that”.

Reportedly, students were protesting against the professor who was booked in sexual harassment case.
