Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor trolled after posting a tweet on his official Twitter handle on 23 September.
The political leader was trying to take a dig at PM Modi’s visit to the US with his recent post. Unfortunately, he made a blunder and got trolled on the micro-blogging site.
On 23rd September, Shashi Tharoor posted a tweet on Indira Gandhi and Nehru visit’s to the US in 1954.
The gaffe that Tharoor committed when he called Indira Gandhi ‘India Gandhi’ in a tweet. Later, he corrected the information to his followers.
But, he got late as netizens caught his erroneous tweet and started trolling the political leader.
Shashi Tharoor shared a picture of former Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi at a public rally.
He captioned, “Nehru & India Gandhi in the US in 1954. Look at the hugely enthusiastic spontaneous turnout of the American public, without any special PR campaign, NRI crowd management or hyped-up media publicity.”
After this tweet, netizens left scratching their heads and they started asking questions that who is India Gandhi?

After knowing his mistake, Tharoor spontaneously responded and posted another tweet.
“I am told this picture (forwarded to me) probably is from a visit to the USSR and not the US. Even if so, it still doesn't alter the message: the fact is that former PMs also enjoyed popularity abroad. When @narendramodi is honoured, @PMOIndia is honoured; respect is for India,” Tharoor tweeted.
