Sabarimala temple verdict: RSS criticized the Kerala government for implementing the SC order allowing women to enter the temple

Rashtriya Swayansevak Sangh (RSS) on Wednesday criticized the Kerala government for implementing the Supreme Court order which allowed the women of all ages to enter the Sabarimala temple.

The saffron organization’s comment came after the government said that it will not file review petition on the judgment.

General Secretary of RSS Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi in a statement said “In the case of Sabarimala Devasthanam, it is an issue of a local temple tradition and faith to which sentiments of millions of devotees, including women, are attached. These sentiments of the devotees cannot be ignored while considering the judgment”.

Calling the government’s move to implement the judgment ‘unfortunate’, he said “Unfortunately, the Kerala government has taken steps to implement the judgement with immediate effect without taking the sentiments of the devotees into consideration”.
Yet, he also said to honor the Supreme Court order.

He said “The recent judgement on Sabarimala has evoked reactions all over the country. While we all respect the varied temple traditions followed by devotees in India, we have to also honour the Supreme Court”.

Senior RSS functionary called on spiritual and community leaders to unite in order to address the issue.
“They must convey their concerns on their right to worship in a manner which best suits their faith and devotion, to the authorities in a peaceful manner,” he added.

Reacting to the Supreme Court verdict allowing women of all ages to enter the Sabarimala temple, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had said that his government is not going to file a review petition on the order.
