Sabarimala row: After activist Trupti Desai's arrest, temple politics changing course as Supreme Court's order defied
As Sabarimala temple row has gained momentum, several regional and national party’s are in fray of polarizing the issue and in order to carry out the motive, the Supreme Court’s order of allowing women to enter the temple is getting defied.
Violent protests, state-wide strike and prohibitory orders of imposing Section 144 in several districts have been seen, since the Constitution bench of the apex court allowed women of every age group to enter the Lord Ayappa shrine.
In an election year, the CPM, Congress and the BJP are well aware about the implications of the debate of Sabarimala verdict and that each political party is calibrating and re-calibrating its steps to maintain an equilibrium with the citizens and the demands.
The BJP led NDA has never won the state of Kerala and are implying with the citizens demands over filing a review petition by the government of Kerala and sympathizing with voters. Congress remains in a box where several different opinions have emerged but the CPM’s stand is clear and they are following the verdict.
Activist Trupti Desai said after being detained that “Police force was already here today morning when we were about to leave for Shirdi. It is wrong. It is our Constitutional right to protest. We are being stopped at home only. It is an attempt to suppress our voice through Modi ji.”
“Point of SC is right that men&women are equal. But here some culture is going on that women in age group of 10-50 yrs aren't allowed in the temple. It's our custom. We should follow our customs as India is custom-following country,” said a devotee at Sannidhanam, Kerala.
