Rakesh Asthana, CBI special director donated Rs 20 crore to BJP's election fund from the Police Welfare, alleges retired PSI

The CBI’s special director Rakesh Asthana has been accused of donating Rs 20 crore to the ruling BJP’s election fund form the Police Welfare, a retired PSI has alleged.

The infighting in the CBI had begun since the director Alok Verma filed an FIR against his deputy Rakesh Asthana, who was made an accuse in the Moin Qureshi bribery case.

The report about Rakesh Asthana donating Rs 20 crore to the BJP election fund has come out from the complaint filed by a retired PSI, who had sent it through e-mail to the CBI. The alleged case happened in Surat city in Gujarat.

The retired PSI of Surat has rocked the investigation with the email he had sent on October 23rd to the CBI alleging that the case dates back to 2013, when Rakesh Asthana was the police commissioner and Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of the Gujarat. He has said in the e-mail that those Rs 20 crore never came back in Surat’s Police account during 2013-2015.

As per retired PSI, the income tax department had sent a notice in the case demanding the TDS payments bill in the Rs 20 crore transfer of funds. And after this notice, the files pertaining to the Police Welfare Fund were nowhere to be found. The information regarding this case of missing files were also given to the Crime Branch and later on, this case was presented in front of the audit department as ell but nothing happened.

RTI activist, Sheikh Mohammad and Sohail Mohammad Ameen have claimed that they had filed an RTI in this particular case in 2015 and had sought information but the information was never provided to them.
