Rajasthan Weather: Mercury drops near-freezing temperature in Churu; check full forecast here
The minimum temperature in parts of Rajasthan has slightly risen, but it has failed to give people respite from the bone-chilling cold. Churu has become the coldest place in the desert state with 0.6 degree Celsius, said the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on December 28.
The second coldest place on December 27 was Sikar’s Fatehpur with a night temperature of 0.8 degree Celsius. There was less dense fog in certain areas of Rajasthan, which was preventing the sun from shining and causing the temperature to climb.
According to the weather department, the minimum temperature recorded on December 27 was 1.7 degrees Celsius in Karauli, 4 degrees Celsius in Sirohi, 4.3 degrees Celsius in Bhilwara, 4.6 degrees Celsius in Pilani, 4.7 degrees Celsius in Nagaur, 5 degrees Celsius in Sikar, 5.4 degrees Celsius in Chittorgarh, 5.5 degrees Celsius in Bikaner and 6.2 degrees Celsius in Phalodi.
The minimum temperature in the state capital Jaipur was 8.4 degrees Celsius. The department has predicted an increase in the minimum temperature by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in the next 24 to 48 hours.
The weather department said that the weather would be cloudy in in the north-western parts of the state due to the current western disturbance. One or two places in SriGanganagar, Hanumangarh and surrounding areas may witness light showers on December 29, the IMD added.
The temperature is expected to drop further from December 31, the weather department said.
