Rajasthan man murders wife to get insurance money
In a shocking incident reported from Rajasthan’s Jaipur, a man got his wife killed by staging a road accident to get an insurance amount of Rs 1.90 crore. The accused, identified as Mahesh Chand, had hired a history-sheeter who rammed his car into the motorcycle on which Mahesh's wife was riding along with her cousin.
Both were killed in the accident.
The incident happened on 5th October, when Mahesh's wife, identified as Shalu, along with her cousin named Raju, had gone to visit Samod temple in Jaipur's Harmada. The duo were killed in a collision with a vehicle while on the way to the temple.
Mahesh had also got his wife insured for Rs 1 crore 90 lakh ahead of the killing.
According to the DCP Vandita Rana, there were frequent fights between the couple. The wife had also registered a dowry harassment case against Mahesh in 2019, following which he was arrested and sent to jail.
As part of the conspiracy, the husband [Mahesh] told his wife that a Pandit has said that they could lead a happy life if they visited Balaji 12 times. On the contrary, he had already given Rs 5.50 lakh of the promised Rs 10 lakh contract to the history-sheeter, identified as Mukesh Singh Rathore for killing Shalu.
Forced by her husband, Shalu took her brother Raju on a motorcycle to visit the temple while Mahesh monitored her location. The duo were mowed down by a speeding car, killing them on the spot.
Police looked into the CCTV footage and discovered that the SUV deliberately hit the duo while the bike was moving on the side. In the time of investigation, it was discovered that about four months ago, Mahesh had got Shalu insured for Rs 1.90 crore for death in accident.
Police have taken five accused into their custody, including Mahesh, Raju, Mukesh Singh Rathore, Sonu Singh and Rakesh Bairwa, in connection with the crime.
