The polling for 199 constituency seats--- Rajasthan assembly election 2018 has reached its end and the voter's turn out to 72.07 per cent in India's desert state. While Congress is counting on anti-incumbency to win in Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is facing a big challenge to retain its power as the northern state has always voted out the incumbent government for more than two decades.
Casting of Votes:
The voting began at 8 am in the state and ended at 5 pm. Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, Union Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, State Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria, and several other BJP minister turnout to casts their vote.
While, Congress leader and ex-Chief minister Ashok Gehlot, state party chief Sachin Pilot and other party members cast their franchise.
EVM Malfunction:
Meanwhile, like other states assembly poll, EVM glitch was reported in Fatehpur town in the Sikar district, while another EVM malfunctions were reported in Jhotwara, Chitaudgarh, Bengu, Pushkar, Haidarshah and other. Voters also create ruckus at polling booth no. 253 and 254 in Ahor constituency of Jalore as voting was halted following EVM malfunction.
Even, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghal faced 3 hours halt following EVM glitch in Bikaner polling booth. Also, one death was reported on the polling day from delwada polling booth. RAAC's 9 battalion personnel, Shiv Pradas Bawe, who was stationed at booth number 30 in Delwara died after his health suddenly deteriorated. He vomited blood after which he was immediately rushed to Amritkaur Hospital. From where he was referred to the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Ajmer. He died during treatment.
Clashes and Violence:
Several vehicles were set ablaze & vandalised in a clash which broke out between 2 groups at a polling booth at Subhash school in Sikar's Fatehpur today. The clash was reportedly broke between Congress party workers with those of the RLP in Rajasthan. Following which voting remained affected for around 30 minutes. Miscreants were later removed from the spot by police & voting resumed.
The Voting is closed in Rajasthan for assembly poll and counting of votes will be done on 11 December.
