Rafale Verdict: Amid controversy, CAG submits draft report on Rafale to govt, seeks reply within 4 weeks

As the controversies have erupted along the Rafale verdict pronounced by the Supreme Court, the CAG has send its report on Rafale to the Ministry of Defence

The Comptroller and Auditor General is seeking a reply in the matter within 4 weeks and the report is said to have the pricing details of the fighter jets.

The Congress is alleged that the Attorney General KK Venugopal has mislead the Supreme Court by his submission over the Rafale report, where he has said that the pricing of the Rafale and other mandatory subdues were submitted to the CAG, which was then presented to the Parliamentary Accounts Committee and tabled in the parliament.

The Opposition parties have made allegations against the government for lying to the Supreme Court. Although, the BJP yesterday brought a privilege motion against Congress president Rahul Gandhi in the Rafale matter and the Congress has challenged the pm Narendra Modi led BJP to appoint a Joint Parliamentary Committee and probe the issue.

Senior Congress leader and the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Mallikarjun Kharge has said that, “The Government lied in the Supreme Court that the CAG report was presented in the House and in the PAC, and PAC has probed it. The Government said in the Supreme Court that it (the report) is in public domain. Where is it? Have you seen it?”

Although, the government has filed a curative petition in the Supreme Court seeking a clarification in the verdict and the controversial Para 25 of the Page 21.
