Rafale debate: 'For every 'AA' there is a 'Q' and 'RG,' says Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Rafale jibe

As the Rafale deal debate heats up in the Lok Sabha today, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has upped the ante of attacks and taken a jibe against the Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

Defence Minister has said in her answer in the Parliament that the Supreme Court have given them a clean chit in the case and Rahul Gandhi has no basis to raise doubts but even then, she told further details about the deal signed with the French counterpart.

Sitharaman said, “China and Pakistan are building a bigger fleet. The UPA government wanted only 18 flyaway fighter jets. UPA created a deadlock.”

Taking a jibe at the Congress president and his mentioning of acronyms like ‘AA’ for Anil Ambani, Sitharaman said, “Congress did not intend buying the jets . For every 'AA' there is a 'Q' and 'RG.'

Defence Minister further said that “ There is a difference between defence dealings and dealing in defence. We don't do defence dealings. We deal in defence with national security as a priority.”

Earlier, BJP minister Anurag Thakur had spoken on Rafale debate and taken a jibe on the Congress party “Congress took more than 20 days to prepare for the debate. When the opposition brought forward a leader to lead the discussion, it was a confused and a corrupt leader, who is out on bail. Woh 20 minute mein 20 jhooth bol kar chale gaye.”

While attacking the government, Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge said, “The affidavit submitted by the Centre before the Supreme Court is wrong. Centre misguided SC & public. This is the reason we are demanding a JPC.”
