Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas: PM Modi mentions Rajiv Gandhi to attack Congress' corruption, calls NRIs brand ambassador of India
To celebrate the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas, PM Narendra Modi has attacked the Congress party by keeping the gun on former and late PM Rajiv Gandhi’s shoulder.
PM Modi said that even Rajiv Gandhi accepted that corruption was happening in the tenure of Congress and he gave the example of Rajiv Gandhi’s analogy of Re 1. Although, he said that Non-Resident Indian’s are the brand ambassador of India.
While attacking the Congress, PM Modi claimed, “Wasn't there money available before? (Road Transport and Highways) Department before? Engineers before? And people's demand before? Yet it didn't happen. Why? That's because, as one of the Congress Prime Ministers said, only 15 paise out of every rupee spent on development reached the villages.”
“Our Embassies&Consulates across the world are being connected with Passport Sewa Project. It will prepare a centralized system for passport related services for all. Now taking a step forward,work is on to issue chip-based e-passports,” said PM Narendra Modi during the event in Varanasi.
Detailing about the achievements of his government in last 4.5 years, PM Modi said, “In past 4.5 years, our government has given around Rs. 5 lakh 78 thousand crores directly to people through different schemes. We have transferred it to their bank accounts.”
Prime Minister added that “Today, India is in the position to lead the world in several subjects. International Solar Alliance (ISA) is one such platform. Through this medium, we want to take the world towards ‘One World, One Sun, One Grid.”
