PM Modi recalls 2016 surgical strike, says I stayed awake all night

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who just got back from his United States visit, cast his mind back to surgical strike India executed inside Pakistan soil precisely three years ago to requite the terror attack on an Army camp in Uri.

"Three years ago, it was September 28 when I didn't sleep at all at night. I stayed awake all night. Every moment, I was waiting for when the telephone will ring... Three years ago, on the night of September 28, the brave soldiers of my country enhanced India's pride by conducting the surgical strike. Remembering that night, I salute the courage of our brave soldiers," PM Modi said.

His statement came after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, in an antagonistic speech at the United Nations General Assembly, denounced the Modi government’s move to revoke article 370, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistani prime minister also warned of bloodbath in the state, terror attacks and communal conflicts throughout India and a nuclear war.

The surgical strike showed the advent of a resilient stand towards the belligerent neighbour, marking the end of strategic measures where the fear of use of nuclear weapon by Pakistan forced India to restrict it’s retort to terror attacks organized across the border.

In his speech, PM Modi stated that BJP’s return to power with a larger decree has augmented India’s reputation ensuing larger acceptance of India’s position. “This is all because of you” PM Modi said to the crowd who was gathered at the airport to celebrate PM Modi’s diplomatic victory over Pakistan at the United Nations.

Welcoming PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah stated, “I join millions of Indians in welcoming PM Narendra Modi after a historic US visit, which has given India a new face on the world stage. His leadership is a signal of hope."

While Amit Shah was out of Delhi, BJP president JP Nadda and party leaders went to receive PM Modi at the airport.
