According to reports in a leading portal, a Pakistani court had directed the government to complete formalities for Ansari's deportation within a month as his three-year jail term ended on December 15. A 33-year-old Hamid Ansari, who is a Mumbai resident, is currently lodged in Pakistan's Peshawar Central Jail after being sentenced by a military court to three years' imprisonment for possessing a fake Pakistani identity card on December 15, 2015. In 2012, Ansari was arrested in Pakistan for illegally entering the country from Afghanistan, reportedly to meet a girl he had befriended online.
