Padmavati row: SC dismisses another petition against film release
The Supreme Court on 28 November dismissed another petition seeking stay on the release of film Padmavati.
"When matter is pending for the Central Board of Film Certification's (CBFC) consideration, how can persons holding public offices comment on whether the CBFC should issue certificate or not? It will prejudice decision making of the CBFC," the apex court observed while dismissing lawyer Manohar Lal Sharma's petition.
Sharma, who was the defence lawyer in the December 16 gang-rape case, is seeking direction to delete certain "objectionable" scenes from the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film.
Sharma's plea also seeks prosecution of Bhansali.
The apex court has already rejected one petition regarding the film's release earlier this month.
The film has been embroiled in a spate of controversies ever since its inception.

The period drama, starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, has been facing protests from various groups, especially Rajput Karni Sena, for allegedly tampering historical facts.
