Ousted CBI chief Alok Verma to be keynote speaker at SRCC event in Feb; Smriti Irani and Suresh Prabhu amongst invitee

As the CBI has been in news over its functionality and directorial venture, ousted chief Alok Verma has been invited by Delhi University’s SRCC college to be a keynote speaker next month.

DU’s Sri Ram College of Commerce will hold a Student’s Business Conclave 2019 on February 14, and it is the same platform which had launched the campaign of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014.

Amongst other attendees, would be Textile Minister Smriti Irani, Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu and Delhi’s deputy CM Manish Sisodia might be present at the event.

Verma, who was sent an invite when the Supreme Court had reinstated him after the government sent him on leave, had agreed to the request to be the keynote speaker at the event.

The annual event of the SRCC came into limelight when PM Narendra Modi had initiated his campaign through it, while unveiling his national ambitions for the 2014 Prime Ministerial.

“This nation is being ruined by vote bank politics. This nation requires development politics. If we switch to politics of development, we will soon be in a position to bring about lasting change and progress,” said Narendra Modi at the event during 2013.

One of the organizers told The Indian Express that “There are 24 to 25 sessions in each event spread over three days. Besides keynote speakers, we have townhall events and panel discussions. The full list of speakers for this year is being worked on.”

Alok Verma will be talking about his journey throughout and the audience would be expecting that he would come out in open, and reveal the details which led to his ouster from the agency.
