NIA files chargesheet in Ghorasahan IED planting case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday filed chargesheet in Ghorasahan improvised explosive device (IED) planting case.
The chargesheet was filed before the NIA Special Court here against nine accused persons for their involvement in the conspiracy to carry out the terrorist act of planting a pressure cooker IED on the railway tracks near Ghorasahan Railway Station, district Motihari, Bihar, in the night of September 30, 2016.
The charge-sheet has been filed under sections 150 of The Railways Act, Sections 3 & 4 of The Explosive Substances Act and Sections 16, 17, 18, 18 B & 20 of The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967.
The accused persons who have been charge-sheeted are: Umashankar Patel, Gajendra Sharma, Rakesh Kumar Yadav, Ranjay Sah, Mukesh Yadav, Motilal Paswan, Brij Kishore Giri, Samsul Hoda, and Arun Ram.
Brij Kishore Giri and Samsul Hoda are residents district Bara (Kaliya) in Nepal and other all other accused are residents of Motihari district of Bihar.
Six accused are in judicial custody. Accused Brij Kishore Giri and Samsul Hoda are arrested in a murder case in District Bara, Nepal. The accused Arun Ram was murdered on December 25, 2016.
The NIA chargesheet says that the accused Samsul Hoda, a Nepalese citizen along with Md. Shafi, a resident of Pakistan, were the main conspirators along with Brij Kishore Giri, a Nepalese Citizen.
"Samsul Hoda entered into a criminal conspiracy with Md Shafi and others, to carry out a series of terrorist acts in India. Hoda visited Pakistan in the month of July, 2016 along with Md Shafi. The conspiracy hatched was to carry out IED explosions on railway tracks and bridges, to blow up passenger trains in order to cause loss to public life, disrupt essential lines of communication and to thereby cause threat to security and integrity of India," says the chargesheet.
The NIA said that Samsul Hoda associated Brij Kishore Giri and transferred to him large amount of funds to recruit other associates and arrange logistics for the terrorist acts.
"The funds were sent from United Arab Emirates (UAE) for Brij Kishore Giri in Various bank accounts in Nepal and India. Brij Kishore Giri, in turn, recruited other accused persons Gajendra Sharma, Rakesh Yadav, Umashankar Patel, Mukesh Yadav, Motilal Paswan, Ranjay Sah and Arun Ram to carry out terrorist acts."
The NIA chargesheet further states that the accused planted another IED on the railway track near Adapur and Nakardei railway stations in the intervening night of December 2 and 3, 2016.
