Najeeb Ahmed missing case: Delhi HC disposes off the plea in the JNU student missing case; allows CBI to file closure reports
Delhi HC disposes of the plea in the JNU student Najeeb Ahmed missing case on Monday. The court allows the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file closure report in the case on the disappearance of JNU student Najeed Ahmed.
The Delhi High Court court disposed off the petition filed by Fatima Nafis, mother of Najeeb Ahmed. The Court in the last hearing in the case said CBI has imformed court that no evidence of Ahmed being assaulted a day before he went missing it had found.
Accepting the contention, the Court has now ordered that his mother Fatima can raise her grievances before the trial court, where the closure report is being filed.
According to Fatima’s petition, 27 year old Ahmed was MSc. Biotechnology (1st Year) student of Jawaharlal Nehru University. He called her at around 2:30 am in the morning of October 15, 2016 and informed her that something had happened to him. When Fatima reached Delhi along with her second son discovered that her son had gone missing.
She later came to know from students that Najeeb was beaten up by members of the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on October 14. After he went missing, an FIR was filed by her on October 16, but no mention of the assault on Najeeb.
The case was handed over to CBI from Delhi Crime Branch and in the latest development informed the closure of the case. To this, Fatima had asserted that it was a “political case” and that the “CBI has succumbed to the pressure of its masters.”
