Mumbai Shocker: Man rapes mentally challenged girl on pretext of offering food
A 38-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old mentally challenged girl in Mumbai, police said on April 2.
The accused has been identified as Munnalal Maniklal Patwa.
According to the police, the victim and the accused live in the same neighbourhood in Mankhurd. The accused offered the victim girl food, took her home and raped her.
Police have registered a case against Munnalal Maniklal Patwa under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012.
Further investigation is underway.
Crimes against women are on the rise in the maximum city.
Last month, two men were arrested in Mumbai for allegedly raping a minor girl. As per police, the accused men filmed the act and threatened the girl that if she informed anyone about the incident, they would circulate the video online.
In January, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the principal of a private school in Mumbai’s Nagpada area. Police stated that the 50-year-old principal had allegedly raped the minor girl in December last year and had again attempted to take advantage of her.
When the accused principal allegedly tried to rape the girl, she went home and informed her parents and a complaint was lodged with the police.
The accused is still absconding.
