A shocking extortion case has come to light from Mumbai where a 39-year-old Sangli man booked for allegedly blackmailing his former girlfriend. He threatened the woman to circulate their private pictures if she won’t give him the amount of Rs 5 lakh.
As per the reports of HT, the 39-year-old man started threatening the woman after she rejected his marriage proposal.
Reportedly, the woman, who lives with her 18-year-old son and brother’s family at a rented apartment. She has been separated from her alcoholic husband 17 years ago.
As per the media reports, the woman met the accused three years ago at a family wedding in Isampur at Sangli. Since then, they started meeting each other while having an affair. The man would often visit Vashi to meet her and sometimes the woman also visited Sangli to meet him.
Meanwhile, the 39-year-old accused has been arrested by the Vashi Police.
“In the past one and a half years, he had been proposing marriage. She refused, citing complication and disrepute in society as he too was married and had kids,” said an officer.
The man didn’t listen to the woman, so she started to avoid him. He annoyed because of her behavior, hence, he started calling the woman from different numbers. He recently told her will return to Vashi from Seychelles on November 9.
“He said he will book a hotel and demanded to meet her. He said if I want to get out of this relationship, I will have to pay him Rs5 lakh or else, he would circulate our photos taken together,” the woman told the police in her complaint.
The woman lodged a case of extortion and criminal intimidation against her former boyfriend.
