Mumbai horror: Caretaker kills elderly man, injures wife in robbery bid

In a shocking incident reported from Mumbai’s suburban Jogeshwari, a 29-year-old caretaker of an elderly couple allegedly attacked his employers, killing the man and injuring his wife.

The incident happened on Monday night when Pappu Gawali, the caretaker, attacked Sudhir Chiplunkar, aged 70 and his wife Supriya Chiplunkar, aged 69 in a bid to rob them.

The caretaker got inside the house of his employers allegedly with the intention of committing robbery and attacked the couple with a sharp weapon, they said.

Gawali attacked a 70-year-old man with a sharp weapon, killing him on the spot. While Sudhir Chiplunkar died on the spot, his wife was severly injured.

The woman started throwing household items out of the windows of the flat to draw the attention of her neighbours and other residents of the locality, said an official.

Their neighbour alerted the police, who immediately arrived at the scene and rushed the couple to a nearby hospital.

The caretaker was later nabbed at Dadar railway station when he was trying to run away to his native place. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 302 (murder).
