MS Dhoni's name in ISIS messages before World Cup, Mumbai Police on high alert

Navi Mumbai police are on high alert after messages in praise of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) appeared on a bridge pillar on Tuesday. Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s name was also included in the message along with Indian politician Arvind Kejriwal.

The messages were written on the Khopta Bridge in Navi Mumbai’s Uran area of Raigad district with ISIS leader Abu Bakr-Al Bhagdadi and Lashkar-e-Taiba co-founder Hafeez Saeed. MS Dhoni is currently on national duty for World Cup in England and Wales.

Navi Mumbai police commissioner Sanjay Kumar confirmed that MS Dhoni’s name along with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was written on the pillar.

Sanjay said, “The messages or inscription drawn below the bridge mentions names of (Arvind) Kejriwal and (MS) Dhoni and also (Abu Bakr al) Baghdadi. We have collected all possible evidence from the spot which includes beer bottles, mugs and other things. Locals have told us that the spot is frequented by youngsters to consume alcohol but we are investigating every possible angle to find out who could have drawn the inscription.”

Navi Mumbai crime branch is currently investigating the matter and on Tuesday afternoon they carried out a detailed inspection. One official said that the messages are so serious that they can’t be ignored.

MS Dhoni and team India is supposed to play their first World Cup game today in Southampton. India will face South Africa in a much-awaited clash of the tournament.
