MP Assembly Election 2018: Shivraj Singh Chouhan resigns as Chief Minister of MP; says, 'ab mein mukt hoon'
Shivraj Singh Chouhan resigned as Chief Minister after ruling constantly for 15 years in Madhya Pradesh the 'heartland' of the country. Shivraj Singh Chouhan arrived at Raj Bhawan in the morning and tendered his resignation to the Governor.
After stepping down as Chief Minister Mr Chouhan said, he is now free soul and takes responsibility of defeat. “Ab Mein mukt hoon, I am free. I have tendered my resignation to the honourable Governor. The responsibility of defeat is totally mine. I have congratulated Kamal Nath ji,” said Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
“Na haar mein, na jeet mein, kinchit nahin bhaybhit main, kartavya path par jo bhi mile, yeh bhi sahi woh bhi sahi," he added.
In the 230 Assembly seats Madhya Pradesh, where the power has gone out from BJP to the hands of the Congress. In the MP assembly election, the Congress got 114 seats, BJP 109 and others 9 seats. In this election, BJP's vote share has dropped 5 percent, while the Congress vote share has increased by 4 percent.
BJP's Shivraj Singh Chauhan has won from Budhni seat with 58999 votes. In Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, a total of 2,899 candidates contested all the seats. These include 2,644 men, 250 women and 5 transgenders. In this election, 1,094 Independent candidates also tried the luck.
