MP: 13 coaching institutes, libraries, operating in basements sealed in Indore
Indore: At least 13 coaching institutes and libraries in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, were sealed for operating in basements.
Action Taken After Delhi Incident
This action follows a recent tragedy in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar, where three UPSC students lost their lives.
Inspection Orders Post-Tragedy
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ghanshyam Dhangar stated that the Indore collector was instructed to inspect coaching centres and seal those operating in basements. "Following the directions on Tuesday, a joint team of the state revenue department, municipal corporation, and police acted against 13 institutes in the Bhawarkua area," Dhangar said.
Additional Closures
Besides the basement closures, four coaching centres in plywood structures were temporarily sealed. A report will be sent to senior officials for further action.
Continued Safety Measures
Dhangar noted the discovery of a restaurant and a library, both housed in plywood structures, which were also sealed. "The action against institutes in basements will continue," he added.
Chief Minister's Directive
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had previously instructed officials to inspect coaching institutes in basements across the state to enhance safety.
Delhi Incident Recap
In Delhi, three students died after the basement of a coaching centre flooded due to recent rains. The Delhi Police have arrested the owner and coordinator, charging them with culpable homicide and other offences.
