MNS threatens Maharashtra cinema hall owners: Don't ignore Marathi films either face its consequences
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on Tuesday wrote a threatening letter to Maharashtra cinema theatre owners in warning them against ignoring Marathi films and giving preferences to Hindi films. This has come just after a few weeks of several MNS activists visited theatre owners or not giving screen time to Marathi films in favour of Akshay Kumar's comedy film 'Housefull 4'.
According to the media reports, the letter written to cinema theatre owners read: "Don't forget that you have your cinema halls on the land of Maharashtra. So, you cannot afford to ignore Marathi films."
It all happened after on 7th October, MNS activists met with cinema hall owners in Mumbai after Marathi film 'Hirakani' failed to find screens in Maharashtra. It was told that it happened in the wake of Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull 4 release. The activists had earlier warned the theatre owners that they either give proper screens numbers to Marathi films or face the consequences.
Although, this is not the first time when MNS has threatened cinema hall owners. Earlier last year in June, Raj Thackeray led MNS party workers had thrashed cinema hall manager in Pune over high prices of food items inside a movie theatre. The whole incident was captured in camera and MNS workers can be seen holding the theatre management and hitting one employee of the theatre.
