Mayawati: Modi govt is ‘sinking ship’, losing 2019 polls; even RSS has stopped supporting BJP
Day after taking swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over ‘shedding crocodile tears’ remark, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Tuesday term “Modi government as a sinking ship” as the Lok Sabha elections entered the final and seventh phase scheduled on May 19. Former UP CM also claimed that the RSS stopped supporting his government and this has made him nervous.

“PM Modi’s government is losing this election, it appears that even RSS has stopped supporting them. In view of unfulfilled election promises and the public agitation, their swayamsevaks are not being seen putting in the work, it has made Shri Modi nervous,” ANI quoted Mayawati as saying.
The two leaders have been engaged in the war of words over alleged atrocities on Dalits, following Alwar rape case. Mayawati also hit out at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his temple visits during poll ban hours imposed by the Election Commission.
“Roadshows and offering prayers has become a fashion during elections, where a lot of money is spent. Election Commission should add this expense to the candidate’s total expenditure limit.”
“During a ban on a candidate for violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC), if they go to a public place or offer prayers at a temple and it is shown in media, it should be stopped. Election Commission should take action on it,” Mayawati added.
Attacking BSP chief on Sunday, PM Narendra Modi accused her of “shedding crocodile tears” over an alleged gang rape in Rajasthan’s Alwar. PM Modi also slammed her for supporting Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in the state.
Reacting to his ‘shedding crocodile tears’ jibe, Mayawati accused him of "dramebaazi (playacting) with his love for Dalits" and also taunting him on his wife.
