Manmohan Singh not as strong as PM Modi in dealing with terror: Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit
Former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit has stated in an interview that ex PM Manmohan Singh was not as strong as PM Narendra Modi in dealing with terrorism.
While coping with the question of criticism that UPA government did not do much post 2008 Mumbai attacks, Dikshit, who is the chief of Congress in Delhi also held that “but there is also a feeling that he is doing all this for politics.”
In the interview given to journalist Vir Sanghvi, who has tweeted the excerpts, said, “I asked her if people would vote for Modi because of his record on national security. This is what followed. Judge for yourself if it is a ringing endorsement of Modi.”
When Vir asked Dikshit about the Manmohan Singh not acting via military against Paksitan, she had replied, “Manmohan Singh’s…yes I agree with you wasn’t strong or as determined as he is perhaps but then there is also the feeling that he is doing it all for politics, not that he wants to, not out of the sense.”
Although, in a clarification tweet Sheila Dikshit said that her words were twisted and are doing rounds on social media. She tweeted saying, “I have seen some media is twisting my comments made in an interview. Here is what I said - it may seem to some people that Mr Modi is stronger on terror but I think this is a poll gimmick more than anything else.”
It was a fact that the UPA government did not act militarily against Pakistan after the deadly Mumbai attacks of 2008, where more than 150 people lost their lives. Whereas, in the recent Pulwama attack, wherein more than 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives, it was the NDA government which conducted aerial strike in PoK’s Balakot.
