Man murders wife for suspecting ‘extramarital affair’ in Bhubaneswar, arrested

A man was arrested in Bhubaneswar in connection of killing his wife over suspicion of an extramarital affair, police said on April 20. The victim has been identified as Mama Pradhan.

According to the police, the accused, who man worked as a house painter, suspected that his wife was having an extramarital affair with another man. Anguished over the betrayal, he killed his wife.

“The accused doubted that his wife had extramarital affair. They had been fighting over this issue for some days,” said ACP Zone-3, Pradeep Kumar Rout.

“The couple faced off again in their home yesterday. As per the statement of the accused, when his wife tried to attack him with a sharp weapon, he grabbed it from her and strangulated her to death,” the ACP added.

The couple had been married for four years and they have a 14-month-old child.
