Maharashtra: Shocking! Farmer commits suicide in Yavatmal district; blames BJP-Shiv Sena govt in suicide note
In a shocking incident, a 52-year-old farmer in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district allegedly committed suicide due to crop failure and debt burden. The deceased Dhanraj Baliram Navhate, a resident of Pahapal in Pandharkawda tehsil, penned a suicide note that was found by the police during the preliminary investigation.
In the purported suicide note he blamed the BJP-Shiv Sena government in the state for his plight, police said.
The police official said that Navhate had four acres of agricultural land and owed Rs 2 lakh to a private money lender.
According to initial reports, Navhate left house Wednesday morning to visit his married daughter in Vani but did not return till late in the evening next day. Later, his body was found in a pit on his farm. Preliminary examination suggested that he had taken poison.
The suicide note was found on the body said that the present government (BJP-Shiv Sena alliance) should be condemned, and the earlier Congress government was better as it took everyone along.
However, it was yet to be verified if the note was written by Navhate, the police official said. The Navhate survived by wife, two married daughters and a son.
