Madhya Pradesh shocker: Man gets father killed by hitmen to claim insurance money
In a shocking inncident reported from Madhya Pradesh’s Barwani district, a man was killed in a road accident on November 10. Initially, it was thought to be a straightforward accident case, but investigation by the police revealed that it was a murder plotted by victim's son.
Barwani Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Shukla said, “On November 10, a report came to our police station that a person named Chhagan Pawar has died in a road accident.”
On the basis of the report, an FIR was registered under section 304A at Sendhwa city police station.
“In the beginning, it was thought to be an accident, but when our technical team investigated the crime and examined the cyber evidence, it was shown in the CCTV footage that the vehicle which caused the accident had been circling the spot for a long time,” Deepak Kumar Shukla said.
After further investigation, the driver of the vehicle was taken into police custody in Maharashtra. The police also extracted call records of the deceased’s son. The police found that Chhagan Pawar’s son, Anil, had made a call to one of the accused before the accident.
Anil was then called for interrogation. At first, he allegedly tried to make up some fake story, however when the police took a strict line of questioning, he confessed to hiring people to kill his father for insurance money.
In a statement to the police, Anil confessed that his father had an insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh and to get his hand on the money, he hired three hitmen for Rs 2.5 lakh to murder his father.
Further, Anil told the police that his father used to go for a morning walk every day. On the day of the incident, Anil allegedly called up the accused after his father left for his morning walk. After this, the accused laid in wait to ambush Chhagan Pawar with their pick-up vehicle, leading to his death.
All three accused, including Anil Pawar, have been held. The police have confiscated everything including the vehicle used to carry out the killing.
