Lumpy Skin Disease: BJP holds massive protest in Jaipur over cattle deaths in Rajasthan

Large number of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on September 20 protested in Jaipur over the deaths of 50,000 cattle due to Lumpy Skin Disease in Rajasthan. They also raised voices against the atrocities on women in the state.

The massive protest, which was staged on the second day of the assembly session, was led by Rajasthan BJP president Satish Poonia. The protesters tried to gherao the state assembly but they were stopped by the police. The protest march was started from the BJP headquarters.

In the video tweeted by news agency ANI, the BJP workers can be seen clashing with police officers while attempting to reach the state assembly. The workers protested against the Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government over the tackling of the issue.

Gujarat, Maharashtra and Punjab are among the other states where cases of the dreadful lumpy skin disease have been reported.

In Punjab too, the opposition has raised the issue and slammed the Aam Adami Party (AAP) by saying that the AAP-led Punjab Government has failed to tackle the issue in the state.

In Maharashtra, the state government has formed a state-level task force to mitigate the spread of the contagious disease.

Lumpy skin disease is a viral disease that first appeared in cattle in Africa. the disease is transmitted by blood-feeding insects such as mosquitos, ticks and flies. The contagious disease causes severe fever, nodules on the skin and can also lead to death.
