'Lucknow to witness thrilling contest between two Home Ministers,' says Shatrughan Sinha ahead of polls
Calling it out a battle between ‘two Home Ministers in Lucknow’, Congress leader Shatrughan Sinha has said that 2019 will be tough contest for Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is contesting from Lucknow.
Member of Parliament from Patna Sahib, Sinha joined the Congress on April 6 after the BJP denied him the ticket and he has been critical of the party since a long period of time.
Recently, Shatrughan Sinha called Spchief Akhilesh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati a Prime Ministerial product and received flak from his own party.
Sinha had said, “I hold that a prime minister does not need to have exceptional qualities. It is basically a number game. If you and I have the support of the requisite number of MPs, we too can become the prime minister. Moreover, I think that anybody who has had a successful tenure as chief minister does have the necessary experience for the top job.”
Sinha meanwhile took a jibe at the Prime Minister over his recent interview given to actor Akshay Kumar. He said that PM Modi takes many rehearsal ahead of his interview.
“As far as the prime minister is concerned, I have known him closely as a friend. He gives interviews after lots of rehearsals which are conducted with the help of scriptwriters. What to speak of it?”
The polling in eastern part of Uttar Pradesh will take place from next phase of polls and in Lucknow, it is scheduled for May 6. The results of the election will be decalred on May 23.
