'We will put up a candidate against Narendra Modi and Smriti Irani,' says Bhim Army chief

To put up a formidable fight against the PM Narendra Modi-led BJP, Dalit outfit Bhim Army has said that they would put up a candidate against PM and Smriti Irani and that their support to the SP-BSP alliance is not ‘unconditional’.

Chandrashekhar Azad, the Bhim Army chief has stated that it would support the Samajwadi Party and its candidates only if the party clears its stand on the SC/ST quota in promotions and the outfit has also demanded an explanation from SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav for wishing PM Modi another term in Lok Sabha.

Azad has said, “We will put up a candidate against Narendra Modi in Varanasi and Smriti Irani in whichever constituency she chooses to contest from. If the Opposition candidate is strong, we will support him.”

Calling out Akhilesh Yadav and SP’s parliamentarian, Azad stated, “Akhilesh Yadav’s party MP tore the Bill on quota for promotions for SC/ST in Parliament. And then we are talking about fighting elections together. He should make his stand clear on the issue to get our support. He should spell out clearly whether he supports the Bill or not.”

Pointing out at the intelligence failure in Pulwama terrorist attack and taking a jibe at PM Modi, Chandrashekhar Azad said, “You are able to detect half a kg of beef in the house of Akhlaq (a Muslim man killed by a mob at Dadri in UP for possessing cow meat), but can’t find 300 kg of RDX being smuggled into the country?”
