AAP-Congress tie-up fails

The Congress, which had sought a 3-3-1 seat sharing deal with AAP, was not favoured by the convener Arvind Kejriwal’s group, and the former had said that one seat would be contested by a joint candidate.

Earlier, former Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken expressed his support towards the alliance and had said, “I have expressed my support for the alliance and my personal candidature comes after this,” adding that “There are no talks happening. How can an announcement happen without involving the other party concerned? How can they announce an alliance tomorrow when we are not aware of it?”

The Congress party had shown concern about tying up with the AAP and stated about the 2020 Delhi Assembly election, which could become a bone of contention for both the parties.
