Lok Sabha 2019: ‘U-turn won’t guarantee ticket to contest,’ BJP mocks Shatrughan Sinha for praising PM Modi
The Bihar BJP on Wednesday mocked its MP Shatrughan Sinha from Patna Sahib for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the launch of Patna Metro Rail project and gave him a hint that taking U-turn would not guarantee a party ticket to contest upcoming Lok Sabha Election.
Actor-turned-politician, Sinha has been severely critical for the ruling party in the centre and party president Amit Shah for quite some time. However, he surprised everyone by coming forward praised both the PM Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar overlaying of the foundation stone for Patna Metro at a function held in Barauni where projects worth more than Rs. 30,000 crore was launched.
“We are grateful to Shatrughan Sinha for saying something which is true. His words of praise are in sync with a worldwide commendation for the project,” Bihar BJP president Nityanand Rai told reporters in Patna.
"The BJP is, however, a party which believes in taking 130 crore Indians along. Anybody who expresses his trust in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is treated with love. But remaining in the party, making a U-turn is no guarantee for being considered for a ticket," Mr Rai added.
Sinha, who has been associated with the BJP for nearly three decades and from past few months he is critical for the party, might seek re-election from Patna Sahib on another party's ticket.
