Lok Sabha 2019: Sharad Pawar's NCP announces pre-poll alliance with Congress in Maharashtra; to contest on 40 seats
As the 2019 has arrived, the nation has entered into the election year and the announcement has come from the Maharashtra, where the NCP has said to fight the upcoming polls with Congress.
In a recent announcement by Sharad Pawar’s party, senior leader of Nationalist Congress Party Praful Patel has said that they will be tying up with the Congress to contest upon the 40 seats of the Lok Sabha. Although, Maharashtra has 48 seats to offer and the alliance has been announced for the 40 seats but a decision will be taken for the rest 8 seats alter on.
Praful Patel said, “We have decided that NCP & Congress will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections together on 40 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. However, a decision is yet to be taken for the remaining 8 Lok Sabha seats of the state.”
The state will see a triangular contest in 2019 when Congress + NCP will be seen together fighting against the BJP and as the Shiv Sena has announced to go alone in the polls, it will become a bumpy ride for the ruling BJP. Even, the Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena will act as a vote cutter for the right-wing groups and the dream of the BJP to consolidate the urban voters might fall flat in the city as the stronghold of Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP in Konkon region will act as a deterrent for the party.
Lastly, the BJP would like to ride upon the Modi wave which has got dents in the recently held Assembly elections.
