Lok Elections 2019: Actor Prakash Raj declares entry in politics, to contest 2019 polls; says, ‘Ab ki baar Janatha ki Sarkar’
Popular actor Prakash Raj has kick-started the New Year 2019 by announcing his entry in politics on day 1 of the year. The versatile actor has also confirmed that he will be contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. However, he won’t be joining any political party instead he will be contesting as an independent. The actor took Twitter to announce the big news. While wishing his fans he also said: “Ab ki baar Janatha ki SARKAR in Parliament too”.
“HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE..a new beginning .. more responsibility.. with UR support I will be contesting in the coming parliament elections as an INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE. Details of the constituency soon. Ab ki baar Janatha ki SARKAR #citizensvoice #justasking in parliament too..,” he tweeted at the stroke of midnight.
Let us tell you, as per Indian Express reports, Prakash Raj had actively campaigned during the Karnataka elections last year under the banner “just asking”, a movement to raise awareness among people to start asking questions, according to the actor.
Notably, he has been critical of the centre ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the past and maintained he was not in favour of any political party. Also, he claimed that Bollywood stopped offering him roles after he started criticising PM Modi.
Prakash Raj also has been loud in seeking justice for his friend and journalist Gauri Lankesh, who was shot outside her residence.
