Latest in Pulwama probe: Car used in blast was made in 2010-11, repainted

In a breakthrough for the probing agencies of February 14 Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, the car used in the blast has been partially identified and now the owner is being tracked.

As per a report in The Indian Express, a team of officials from the Maruti company analyzed that it was a Maruti Eeco which was used by the suicide bomber to attack the CRPF convoy and as per the initial reports, the car was manufactured in 2010-11

Later on, the investigative team of NIA picked up several samples from the main spot after which it is being said that the car may have been re-painted in past.

Most of the car theft FIR’s are being looked upon but it hasn’t brought up any clue and the investigators suspect that the car might not have been stolen or if stolen, then from outside of the state. If the car was not stolen, then it would get a bit easier for the agencies to track down the owner.

An officer, detailing about the dastardly blast which claimed the lives of more than 40 CRPF soldiers, said, “The blast was so massive that debris had been hurled to as far as 150-200 m away and landed in residential areas around the attack spot. Some new parts of the car have been recovered. These are being examined along with those recovered earlier.”

The attacker who was driving the car was later on identified as Adil Ahmed Dar, a resident of Kashmir and working for Pakistan based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad. The National Investigation Agency will be taking DNA samples of the Dar’s family based in Kakapora. Later on, it will be matched with the flesh and blood collected by the probing agency from the spot.
