Kisan Mukti March: At the behest of farmer protest, Opposition leaders showcase unity, Kejriwal says, '2019 mein ye kisaan qayamat dha denge'
At the behest of farmer’s protest, Opposition leaders are clamping against the Narendra Modi government due to the agrarian crisis which has deepened in the past four years.
Farmers have been demanding a minimum support price for their crops and a complete debt waiver, which has been earlier promised by some state governments but never got implemented fully.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has today said in the rally that “Five months are left, I demand that the Central Govt implement Swaminathan report. Warna 2019 mein ye kisaan qayamat dha denge.”
While attacking the Narendra Modi government, Kejriwal said “Saare Dilliwale aaj keh rahe hain ki Modi ji Dilli ke liye haanikarak hain, Dilliwalon se pooch ke dekho. Vo(PM Modi) Dilli ke har kaam mein taang adaate hain.”
Earlier, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has supported the Kisan Andolan and saod that PM Modi has only made empty speeches in his election promises.
Rahul said, “Modi ji had promised MSP will be increased, PM promised bonus, but look at the situation right now, empty speeches are being given and nothing else.”
He added that “If the loans of industrialists can be waived off, then the debt of farmers must be waived off as well. I assure the farmers of India, we are with you, don't feel afraid. Aapki shakti ne is desh ko banaya hai.”
CPM leader Sitaram Yechuri, who is anchoring the protest f the farmers said, “BJP, Modi & RSS have only one weapon in hand that is Ram Temple. As the elections are approaching, they have started chanting ‘Ram Ram’ ”
