Kerala coronavirus update: First special train reaches Thiruvananthapuram, CM reacts on economic package

With 602 passengers on board, the first special train from New Delhi to Kerala reached Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

Noting significant for small scale industries: Pinarayi Vijayan

Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan has demanded an economic package to surmount the challenges posed by coronavirus (COVID-19) and the subsequent lockdown imposed to stop the spread of the virus. According to the chief minister, the financial stimulus package announced by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman doesn't address the demands of small scale entrepreneurs, and small scale industries.

"The announced package only has nominal spending from the Union government's budget and this has to change. Banks are refusing to sanction loans during this difficult time," the chief minister said.

Total coronavirus cases in Kerala
Kerala reported 26 fresh infections and three recoveries from coronavirus on Thursday. The pandemic COVID-19 appears to be strengthing more in the state after significantly slowing down.

The chief minister on Thursday said that Kerala has 36,910 people under observation, 548 of them in hospitals. So far, 40,692 samples were tested and 39,619 have been confirmed as negative
