Karnataka: Under-construction building collapses in Kumareshwar Nagar; several feared trapped
Over 40 people are feared trapped after under-construction building collapsed in Kumareshwar Nagar's Dharwad in Karnataka on Tuesday. According to reports, 2 person dead, 6 people injured an under-construction mall collapsed near New Bus Stand in Karnataka's Dharwad.
Deputy Commissioner Dharwad on building collapse said "2 people dead, 28 people rescued & receiving treatment at Civil Hospital. NDRF and SDRF team has reached the site of building collapse. Oxygen & water given to 7 people buried in debris. Rescue operation to continue at night."
Majority of the trapped are said to be the labourers working at the construction site. The concerned authorities have launched a search and rescue operation. The cause of the building collapse is also not known yet.
Karnataka CM HD Kumarawamy tweeted "Shocked to learn about the collapse of an under-construction building in Dharwad. I've instructed the Chief Secretary to supervise rescue operations. I have also directed the CS to send additional resources and expert rescuers by a special flight to Dharwad."
