Karnataka horror killing: Father drowns daughter over love affair

In a recent development coming in from Karnataka’s Ballari district, a case of honour killing has surfaced in which a father drowned his daughter because he was unhappy that she was in a relationship with a boy from a different community.

Regardless of giving several warnings to his daughter, she was committed to carry on her relationship with him. Angered by this, he pushed his daughter into a water body in Ballari district’s Kudathini town. Following the crime, he approached the police and confessed that he had killed his daughter.

The horrifying crime happened on 31st Occtober. The accused, identifed as Omkar Gowda, told his daughter that he was taking her to watch a movies. The two of them left their home but they were late for the movies.

So, they left the movie theatre and went to a temple and then he bought her jewellery from a nearby store. Following that, he took her to the High-Level Canal in the area and pushed her into the water body.

Despite the girl's cries for help, her father did not help. She drowned in the water. After the murder, he ranaway to Tirupati overnight.

However, the girl's mother and brother registered a missing complaint at the Kudathini police station.

When the father, got back home on Tuesday, police took him into their custody. Upon interrogation, he confessed to the police that he killed his daughter. Police officials have launched a search for the girl’s dead body.
